Energy efficiency: EDF starts the installation of solar power plants for the Société Générale agencies in Cameroon

Société Générale Cameroon has signed a contract with EDF Cameroon for the installation of customized solar power plants to supply its agencies in Yaoundé and Douala. The teams from EDF Cameroon and its technical partners began installing the photovoltaic panel structures for the solar plants on September 14, 2022.

The QHSE teams from EDF Cameroon are deployed daily at these two sites, assisting contractors in organizing and conducting the work safely. The final commissioning of these two solar power plants is scheduled before the end of 2022. This initiative aims to reduce carbon emissions by approximately 2,000 tons, which is equivalent to "12,000 trees planted in Cameroon." This represents a significant CSR challenge for EDF Cameroon and Société Générale. Furthermore, this solution enables the banking institution to ensure the continuity of its services by limiting not only the CO2 emissions produced by generators, but also the costs associated with their consumption.

The installation of these solar power plants is a concrete example of the commitment of Société Générale Cameroon and EDF Cameroon to sustainable development and the fight against climate change.
