EDF signs a contract with Société Générale Cameroun to install a customised solar solution to power the country's main bank branches. This initiative will reduce carbon emissions by around 2,000 tonnes, which corresponds to "almost 12,000 trees planted in Cameroon".
This initiative by Société Générale Cameroun also contributes to the diversification of the country's energy mix, which is still largely dominated by hydroelectricity and thermal energy. Solar, biomass and wind power still represent barely 1 % of the energy mix.
