360MW injected into the South Interconnected Grid
Nachtigal hydroeletric facility's Unit N°6 has been commissionned since the 14th january 2025. This new stage, which confirms the injection of an additional 60MW into the South Interconnected Network, brings the power produced by Nachtigal to 360MW to date.
As a reminder, the development consists of 7 units with a capacity of 60MW each, and the first 5 units had been delivered during 2024. Once fully commissioned, Nachtigal will have an installed capacity of 420MW, i.e 30% of Cameroon's energy needs.
Nachtigal, supporting the grid to cope with low-water season
With this latest news, the Nachtigal project has a 98.6% progress rate. NHPC and its technical partners reaffirm their commitment to deliver as soon as possible the 7th and final Unit, whose final adjustments before the commissioning phase are underway.
While wainting for the achievment of this last milestone, Nachtigal hydroelectric facility fully contributes to the measures put in place by the government to face the severe drought that Cameroon is experiencing trhough the optimization of Nachtigal's production at peak hours (6pm to 10pm).
