The Framework Cooperation Agreement between the Littoral Regional Council and KIKOT-MBEBE HYDRO POWER COMPANY (KHPC) was signed on 31 July 2025 in Douala, in the presence of the region’s Governor. This partnership instrument focuses on implementing plans for local economic development support and biodiversity conservation.
This initiative aims to establish and improve essential infrastructure and services designed to enhance the well-being of communities residing near the Kikot-Mbebe hydroelectric project area. Consequently, both parties agreed that joint actions in this zone will prioritize the following sectors:
- Health: Strengthening district hospital facilities;
- Education: Upgrading secondary education infrastructure;
- Employment and training for local communities;
- Gender inclusion and protection of vulnerable groups;
- Agricultural, artisanal, tourism, cultural, and sports development;
- Improvement of regional road infrastructure, among others.
The Littoral Regional Council and KHPC commended this shared commitment to pool efforts, expertise, and resources toward developing territories that will host major low-carbon electricity generation facilities – crucial for Cameroon’s energy independence.
Key Information: A similar agreement was established in March 2025 between the Centre Regional Council and KHPC.
